organic baby clothes
It is only in the recent past that people have started realizing the widespread usage of chemicals in the growing of plants and fibers and their use in the manufacturing of clothes. In this world full of toxic chemicals, an organic way of living is highly desirable. More so, if the people concerned here are our family. Though organics are essential for everybody in order to lead a healthy lifestyle, but babies with developing brains and bodies are especially susceptible to the hazards that chemicals pose. Hence organic surroundings are absolutely essential for babies.

Probably the most preferred fabric for use in baby clothing is cotton. Its main advantage is that it allows for circulation of air thus keeping the body cool. Also it absorbs the excess moisture and keeps the skin dry. Keeping all these benefits in mind one would think that cotton is the best cloth for babies. It is, but for the huge amounts of chemicals that are used in its production. In fact, more chemicals per pound are used in cotton production as compared to any other crop. Even before it reaches the manufacturing floor, the cotton that’s used for the manufacture of most mass produced clothes is saturated with pesticides that have been used on the cotton plant during the growing process. Manufacturing of the clothes also involve use of chemicals or harsh dyes, which can be absorbed into the baby’s skin when it comes in contact with it. Baby skin being rather sensitive, makes them very susceptible to several allergic reactions.

However the fiber for the organic baby clothing, is grown using methods which don’t make use of pesticides. Natural means of pest control are used by the organic cotton farmers. This keeps the cotton safe and also chemical-free. Once cotton has been picked, it is sent for manufacturing, where it is processed without using chemicals or bleaches or harsh dyes.

Today there are several easy-to-find websites which sell organic baby clothes. Also, the increasing customer demand for organic clothes has brought their prices down and organic clothes have become much more affordable. Most of the parents would be willing to pay a slightly higher price which could seem immaterial considering the overall benefits of using organic clothes. Another plus point for buying organic clothes for your baby is that they’re manufactured with much higher standards and if taken proper care of, these clothes can be used for the future babies. Thus these clothes can turn out to be excellent investments.

Apart from the organic baby clothing, organic cotton baby bedding, diapers and other accessories are available that allow you to assemble a complete organic set of belongings for your infant. Always remember to look for organic products that are 100% cotton, preferably from reputed brands, and ensure that they are washed with a baby laundry detergent before your drape your baby in them.
